Last week, I once again experienced the joy of looking at the picture of all of the newly referred babies. It was exciting to see that two of the families from our agency received six month old babies. I just popped over to their blog again to look at the adorable little girl and it made my heart ache a bit. They say the wait between referral and travel is the hardest, but to me, it would seem like such a magical time. Since we are waiting to do most of the preparation until after referral, having that little picture, and working toward readying for her, would be amazing. I really long for that time. A time when it will all finally be real.

Rumors and dates
So far, the only link I have posted is that of the Rumor Queen (RQ), a woman who compiles all of the rumors that are out there related to China adoption, posts them with thoughtful comments and rates them as to their usefulness/truthfulness. The site is a great source of information, and frustration when what she is reporting is not what I want to hear. Based on things she has hinted, she should receive a referral this month. Not sure how that will impact future information.
Today is presumably referral day for most of the US. We wil hear the cut-off date for this batch which it sounds like will be between Sept. 27th and Sept. 29th. That means we have around 5 weeks of dates until it is our turn. October is a big month though, so that may mean that things will move slower than they have the last few months. As always, time will tell.
I look forward to seeing the babies!

About me and China
I am starting this blog as a way to express some of my thoughts about the process of our adoption from China. We have been waiting for a referral for almost 14 months. When we started the process in April of 2005, the wait for a referral was 6-7 months after your paperwork arrived in China. If things had gone smoothly, and the wait time had not increased, we would have been home from China no later than June, 2006. But, we had paperwork glitches that lengthened the procees, then the wait started increasing. So, we wait. Today and tomorrow a batch of referrals are arriving. Once they are here, we will know how far referrals have made it though, updating us on our place in line. It is looking like they will get through at least 18 days this time.
